Meeting Minutes for May, 2004
The following people attended the meeting:
Mike Sanford, Joe Greer, Sherelyn Breland, Leonard Hart, Kris Speetjens, Petra Cain
There was no official business discussed at this meeting. The meeting started at 6:10 PM with our speaker Kris Speetjens giving us an introduction into Linux. Kris's presentation was very informative, he made sure to present it on a level were both novice users and well experimented users could understand the presentation. Some of the discussions included some of the different Linux offerings, such as Red Hat, & Suse. We also discussed why companies choose Linux, such as lower cost of total ownership, better security record and also because of the dislikes of Microsoft products & pricing structure. We discussed the implementation of the IBM eServer i5 and the virtualization enhancements for Power5.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday June 15, 2004. The location of the meeting and the topic will be send to you via e-mail at a later date.
