Meeting Minutes for April, 2004
The following people attended the meeting:
Mary Cunningham, Jeanne Croom, Martha Rester, Todd Smith, Mike Sanford, Sherelyn Breland, Joe Greer, Leonard Hart, Brian Bradley, Petra Cain Leonard Hart called the meeting to order and announced the nomination of the new officers for the 2004 - 2005 year. The nominations were as follows: Brian Bradley - President Pat Hanks - Vice President Leonard Hart - Treasurer Petra Cain - Secretary Sherelyn Breland motioned to except the nomination, Jeanne Croom second the motion. The nomination passed by vote of the majority. Since Pat Hanks was not presented at the voting Joe Greer has agreed to except the position of vice president should Pat not be able to do it. After the voting Leonard turned the meeting over to our new president Brian Bradley. Brian officially opened the meeting by introducing himself and giving us a brief intro into what his company does. He also discussed getting our website up to date and has offered to host it on one of his servers. Future topics were also discussed such as Security, Backup and disaster recovery. If there are any topics you would like to see covered in this meeting you are asked to e-mail them to either Brian or Pat, they will be looking forward to hearing from you. Leonard also mentioned that Art Marr with Benecom would like to sponsor a meeting in the near future, we will keep you posted. Also Joe Krole with CMA has a Intel Server consolidation seminar on April 30, 2004 at the Palace Casino in Biloxi, if you are interested please e-mail Pat Hanks for more info. Joe Greer and Martha Rester are working on our next meeting topic, which will be an intro into Linux, Kris Speetjens with Systems Source will be our speaker. Brian also had a presentation for us which included some ways his company has chosen to give there customers a better looking gui interface which can be accessed by their customers using Internet Explorer rather than the old familiar green screen. Some of the software they have tried was HATS limited edition, which can be obtained from IBM for free if you have a license copy of Client Access. He also showed us what Web facing by IBM, Newlook from Looksoftware, CGI development with ILE only and CGI development with CGIDEV2 can do and some of the difference between them. Next month meeting will be Tuesday May 18, 2004, our meeting topic will be an intro into Linux. The location of the meeting is yet to be announced. We will let you know in an upcoming e-mail.
